Buford commissioners approved a special use permit Monday to allow a small church to operate in commercial property at 4705 Hamilton Mill Road.
The request made by Tolu Makinde for the Redeemed Christian Church of God House of Prayer has about 30 members and plans to occupy a lower suite area of the property. The church is currently located in Suite A, 1707 Enterprise Drive in Buford.
The Buford Zoning Board of Appeals had recommended denial of the permit stating the church “would not be consistent with the existing and adjacent commercial uses in the building and surrounding area and could decrease the allowable uses by tenants and potential tenants in the center.”
Approval was granted on the condition the applicant sign a 12-month lease.
