Crews have completed repairs following a gas leak that closed a section of Piedmont Road in Buckhead on Tuesday.

Roads were reopened shortly after 3 p.m. and the work was finished by 4:45 p.m., authorities said.

The leak caused a business and one home in the area to be evacuated. Police said Piedmont was temporarily blocked from Sidney Marcus Boulevard on the south end, north to Pharr Road. Traffic in the clogged area was rerouted.

Atlanta Gas Light, which did the repair work, said a 2-inch plastic line had been cut by a contractor.

The gas leak occurred in front of a dental office on Piedmont around 11:30 a.m., according to Channel 2 Action News, which reported the office and a residence were evacuated.
