Brookhaven officials announced that after two years of incorporation, the city’s reserves have reached $4 million.

“We believe this is quite an accomplishment for such a young city, and it’s the result of being very proactive in watching the bottom line,” said Brookhaven Mayor J. Max Davis. “Since we started in December 2012, we’ve cut taxes twice by reducing the millage rate below what our charter allows, while still giving our community the best in public service.”

The accounting firm of Mauldin & Jenkins recently gave the City a clean audit, which means that its financial statements presented a fair and accurate picture and complied with generally accepted accounting principles.

The audit report can be viewed on the city website, www.brookhavenga.gov.
