The Brookhaven Police Department received the ASIS International “Positive Policing Award” recently at a ceremony in downtown Atlanta from the Greater Atlanta ASIS Chapter. ASIS International is a professional security organization dedicated to promoting leadership throughout the profession.
The award was given to the department in response to the dedication exhibited by their officers to the Brookhaven Community. Programs such as Shop with a Badge, Coffee with a Cop, and the Hispanic Citizen’s Police Academy highlight the department’s commitment to community outreach and public engagement.
Officer Carlos Nino accepted the award from ASIS International on behalf of the Brookhaven Police Department, saying “I appreciate the fact that all of the department’s efforts with the community were recognized today. Now more than ever, it’s important for us as a local authority to bridge the gap to the community.”
