Following approval of a resolution to establish the city’s first parks and recreation committee, Brookhaven residents Shawn Keefe (chair), Mike Allers, Sue Binkert, Andy Heetderks Denise S. Johnson, Charles Gerrick, Heather Chasman, Anne Olmstead, and Karen Whitehead were appointed to serve on the Committee.
With close to 300 acres of parks throughout Brookhaven, the goal of the committe is to make the park system one of the premier systems in the southeast, said Mayor J. Max Davis.
Serving two-year staggered terms, the volunteer members will interface with the parks and recreation staff, helping to set priorities and providing feedback and vision. The committee will report to the city council quarterly.
