The Brookhaven City Council in July approved a contract with Game Time Dominica Recreation Products for new playground equipment at Ashford Park. The playground design was chosen with community input and is ADA compliant.

While new equipment is installed, the playground will be shut down for about 21 days starting Monday. The entire playground will be closed, but the activity building and tennis courts will remain open to the public.

“We are extremely excited to proceed with the installation of the new state-of-the-art playground equipment for Ashford Park,” said Gary Schussler of the Brookhaven Parks and Recreation Department. “The new equipment includes two new age appropriate structures, additional swings, numerous types of slides, activity panels, incorporated shade structures, and many free-standing elements for the kids to look forward to and be challenged by. We hope this is the first of many renovated playgrounds within our citywide park inventory and look forward to its completion for the community to enjoy.”
