Three people in their 20s were found dead in DeKalb County on Wednesday morning, police said.
Two men and one woman were shot to death in the 5000 block of Par Four Court near Lithonia, DeKalb police spokeswoman Officer Shiera Campbell said.
About 11 p.m. Tuesday, police received a call about a disturbance at a two-apartment condominium, Campbell said. The caller did not specify what happened.
Hours later, police found the bodies in one of the apartments.
The victims were later identified as Eric James Robinson, 27, and siblings Stanford Henderson, 28, and Starlynne Henderson, 29.
The owner of the condo, Femi Akinwunmi, said he was staying in the other apartment when he heard the gunshots.
“The shots rang out,” Akinwunmi said. “Then everything was quiet.”
He said he was only staying in the building to fix it up for a new renter and had been asleep about 10:30 p.m. when the loud sounds woke him.
“I didn’t know what to do; I’ve never been so terrified in all my life,” Akinwunmi said.
He said he didn’t call 911 because he didn’t want anyone to hear him on the phone. He didn’t leave the building until he saw a police cruiser about 4 a.m. That’s when he went to a hotel, he said.
“I discovered today I am a complete coward because I was afraid to be in the same building where people were shooting,” Akinwunmi said.
Several people were inside the apartment where the shooting took place and police are trying to figure out from the person who called 911 what exactly happened, Campbell said.
“They told us the apartment got shot up and he’s dead,” said Alicia Willis, the aunt of one of the victims.
