Fayette County's Family, Career and Community Leaders of America chapters had four members take top placements in the FCCLA Region 4 competition. Fayette County High's Zaria Frenelle placed first and Sandy Creek High's Jerre' Smith finished second in the FCCLA Creed Speaking and Interpretation category. Sandy Creek students Josephine Martins placed first and Taylor Breeding placed second in the Impromptu Speaking category. The skill demonstration events provide opportunities for members to demonstrate college and career ready skills in Family and Consumer Sciences and related occupations.

Meadowcreek High School recently honored nine middle school students who have earned REACH Scholarships. Each of the 8th grade students will receive a $10,000 scholarship to attend a Georgia institution of their choice upon high school graduation. The nine scholars are: Emmanuel Adebesin of Moore MS, Arelie Barriga of Radloff MS, Jonathan Bell of Snellville MS, Takeyra Brown of Grace Snell MS, Jerrilyn De La Rosa of Berkmar MS, Lewis Le of Lilburn MS, Melany Pelayo-Medina of Jordan MS, Kendall Reaves of Sweetwater MS, and Kidus Tadessa of Shiloh MS.
