On Sept. 30, the University of North Georgia's Boar's Head Brigade held the 2018 Distinguished Military Students Review, conducted annually to honor senior ROTC cadets who have excelled academically and as leaders. Among the 17 cadets honored: Hunter Blocher of Pine Mountain, Matthew Ilao of Dallas, Nolan Olson of McDonough and Robert Rogers of Marietta.

Woodward Academy ninth-grader Jace Vaughn has been accepted into the Harvard Debate Council Diversity Project for the project's second year.

Suraj Modi, a student at Gwinnett County's Mountain View High School, earned a Drexel University Scholarship Award valued at $250,000 after competing in the Intel International Science and Engineering Fair.

Christopher Tyler Haskin of Marietta graduated from Greensboro College in August.

Woodward Academy junior Samantha Fitch and freshman Emma Cohen were recently selected to join the inaugural cohort of the Strong Women Fellowship of JumpSpark Atlanta.

JoEllen Hancock, a 13-year parent mentor who supports the families of students served by Cherokee County School District's Office of Special Education, won the Georgia Parent Mentor Partnership's 2018 Phil Pickens Award.

A Doraville, retired U. S. Air Force Lt. Col. George Robert Partridge, has been inducted into the 2018 Class of the Georgia Military Veterans Hall of Fame.
