Bragbook for Feb. 8

Twelve students form Indian Knoll Elementary School placed first at the Piedmont Regional Technology and will advance to the Georgia Student Technology Competition in Macon on March 19. Another 11 students earned second or third place in the competition, for which students created a technology-based project in categories such as 3D modeling, digital game design, and robotics. Atlanta Technical College recently presented its 'Best in Class' awards to recognize outstanding achievements of students and faculty: William Merriman, GOAL Award; Tasia Golston, EAGLE Award;    and Mortissa Harvey, Rick Perkins Award for Excellence in Technical Instruction.

Jacinta McDonald of Stockbridge and Eliah Perez of Atlanta were recognized with the Kell Award, given to the senior who has achieved the highest scholastic average for all course work taken at Georgia State University.

Ifeoluwa Afon of Hampton was honored by Georgia State University with the Nell Hamilton Trotter Student Leadership Award during the university's 104th commencement exercises in December.

In ceremonies held Dec. 15 at the University of North Georgia, 25 graduating cadets were awarded commissions as second lieutenants in the U.S. Army or Georgia National Guard. Among those commissioning were: Austin L. Brumby of Newnan, Clayton K. Burke of Alpharetta, Sean E. K. Dekle II of Johns Creek, Connor D. Haddock of Suwanee, Benjamin A. Hawkins of Villa Rica, Rachel N. Hobgood of Powder Springs, Ridge T. Jordan of Cumming, Austin R. Odum of Monroee, Adreana M. Palmquist of Snellville, Alexander C. Robbins of Douglasville and Alexander A. Rojas of Fayetteville.

Taylor Flewellen of Jonesboro, Mitchell Cohen and Chad Whitlow of Cumming, Kira Kulp and Melody Landress of Lawrenceville and Luke Hutcheson of Powder Springs graduated from Harding University on Dec. 15.

Darrell Redd of Dacula graduated from University of Minnesota Crookston in fall 2018.
