Bragbook for April 27

Two string musicians, who also happen to be brother and sister, have been awarded special instruments honoring Wall Street Journal reporter Daniel Pearl who was kidnapped by terrorists and murdered in Pakistan in 2002. Jodie Stone (left) and Croft “Didi” Stone, eighth and sixth grade students, respectively, at Rising Starr Middle, are the recipients of the 2017 Daniel Pearl Award, which consists of a viola, violin and cello specially made in honor of Pearl who was also a violinist and fiddler.

Hapeville resident Katherine E. Hancock was named to the Rhodes College Dean's Listfor the 2017 fall semester.

Jackson Lucas of Atlanta, Lindsay McGowan of Roswell, William O'connell of Peachtree City, Daniel Rogers of Douglasville and Taji Steele of Covington were named to the Seton Hall University Fall 2017 Dean's list.

Amber Hirneisen of Marietta, Seoyeon Jeong of Tianjin, Rachael Keim of Alpharetta, and Alexis Reed of Braselton    made the Deans' List at Azusa Pacific University.

Paul Stephen Benjamin of Scottdale was one of nine visual artists to receive the State Fellowship award of $5,000 each from South Arts, an organization advancing Southern vitality through the arts.

Kendall Gregory of Hampton was named to the fall 2017 President's List at Mississippi College.

Amelia Cornell of Cumming was recently named Georgia Southwestern State University's Outstanding Scholar, the university's highest academic honor.
