Marietta Mayor Steve Tumlin recently honored Marietta resident Judge Jim Morris with the first ever GEM City Award given to recognize the outstanding service of a citizen of Marietta. Morris was given this award to recognize his civil volunteer efforts to compile indexes for Marietta's City Cemetery, thus preserving the history of the city for generations.

Andre Kennebrew, a paramedic for American Medical Response in Stone Mountain, has been selected as a 2015 Star of Life by the American Ambulance Association. Kennebrew is one of only 100 recipients nationwide to receive the 2015 Star of Life award – the highest honor an EMS worker can receive.

Atlanta-based accounting firm Moore Colson recently announced the winners of its Peak Award for the third trimester 2014. They are Christina Quinones and Brad Parker.

Andrew Michael Jones of Marietta recently graduated from Samford University with a master of accountancy and a master of business administration.

Lovett junior Catt McCreary was named a 2015 National YoungArts Foundation Merit winner in performing arts. She is one of 700 winners from across the nation chosen from 11,000 applications.

Alpharetta resident Camille Crofford has been placed on the President's List in recognition of academic excellence during the Fall 2014 semester at New River Community College.
