Creekview High School's media specialist Anne Thiers has been named the Cherokee County School District 2019 Media Specialist of the Year. She has also won her Innovation Zone's title for the last two years and co-sponsored and coached the school's reigning State Champion Reading Bowl team to multiple region and state championships.

For the first time in Georgia Southwestern State University's history, the College of Nursing and Health Sciences held a White Coat Ceremony on Tuesday, February 26 to recognize 40 junior nursing students' transition from the classroom to the clinical setting. The white coat signifies their role and status as a healthcare professional. The following local students were among those recognized: Rebekah Barber of McDonough, Tristan Campbell of Newnan, Christina Catchings of Ellenwood, Meradeth Elliott of Woodstock, Alexandria Evans of Villa Rica, Michelle Gustavsen of Hiram, Helenna Rogers of Johns Creek, Sara Shelnutt of Sharpsburg and Jazmin Tolson of Powder Springs.
Kyrie' Chandler, from Dallas, is a University of South Carolina Aiken women's basketball standout, who earned all-conference honors, picking up third-team accolades and being named the Elite 15 award winner.
