Tropical Storm Bonnie was downgraded to a tropical depression Sunday, with some cloudy skies and isolated rain hitting north Georgia. Meanwhile, metro Atlanta stayed dry and muggy.

The center of Bonnie moved onshore Sunday in South Carolina. Up to 6 inches of rain and gusty winds were possible, alongside high surf and dangerous rip currents – including along the Georgia coastline, Channel 2 Action News meteorologists said. The tropical depression is expected to weaken Sunday night.

The tropical depression that meteorologists have been watching for days was upgraded to a storm and named Bonnie on Saturday about 5 p.m., before being downgraded Sunday morning.

For Monday, metro Atlanta is expected to see more sunshine and hotter temperatures in the high 80s, Channel 2 meteorologist Katie Walls said.
