A judge on Monday scheduled a bond hearing in two weeks for the man who allegedly hijacked a loaded school bus Thursday in southeast Atlanta.

During a short hearing at the Fulton County Jail, Magistrate Judge James Altman ordered Arris Pitmon, 23, to appear at 9 a.m. Sept. 14 in Fulton Superior Court. Pitmon is charged with four counts of battery, 13 counts of reckless conduct, theft by taking a motor vehicle, interference with government property and 13 counts of false imprisonment.

Pitmon did not speak or show any emotion during the three-minute hearing.

Police said Pitmon jumped on the Atlanta Public Schools bus as it stopped at Boulevard and Burroughs Road to let off a student from Forrest Hills Academy.

Pitmon briefly fought with the driver, forcing her out of the seat and taking control of the bus.

The suspect was injured when the bus jumped a sidewalk, slid down a hill and crashed into a fence, where parents and bystanders attacked him.

Bystanders said Pitmon was without a shirt and with his sweat pants around his knees during the incident.
