Body found in river behind Georgia college

June 14, 2016

A fisherman on Sunday discovered a body floating in a river behind the Thornwood campus of Shorter University.

The body had been in the Coosa River for at least four months, Floyd County Chief Deputy Coroner Gene Proctor told the Rome News-Tribune.

The body was sent to the Georgia Bureau of Investigation crime lab for positive identification.

“Any identification is in the far distance,” Proctor told the News-Tribune.
