A retirement living community in Cumming failed a recent food inspection after health officials found raw beef placed on top of vegetables and food stored incorrectly in the cooler.
The Villas at Canterfield located at 815 Atlanta Highway scored a 61/U on its Oct. 18 inspection completed by the Forsyth County Health Department.
Inspectors found that the kitchen’s dish machine needed repairs because it did not wash at the correct temperature, which is 180 degrees Fahrenheit. Instead, the machine’s temperature listed at 120 F, according to the inspection.
County officials also found bleach stored in a tea pitcher on a shelf. Certain potentially hazardous cold foods from the refrigerator also were not stored or thawed correctly, inspectors reported.
Multiple calls and a voicemail left for kitchen chef Quentin Brown on Wednesday were not returned.
Restaurants with low scores are typically re-inspected within 10 days.
