Austin police have issued a warrant for the arrest of a man investigators say robbed two H-E-B grocery stores, including the Bastrop H-E-B, this month.

Police have charged Jeremy Clarke Brock, 47, with robbery by threat, a second-degree felony. He is the suspect in an Aug. 15 robbery at the H-E-B at 11521 North FM 620 in Austin and a Wednesday afternoon robbery at the Bastrop H-E-B on Hasler Boulevard, according to an arrest affidavit and Bastrop police.

In both incidents, Brock went to the grocery store’s business center, produced a note demanding money and then fled in a black four-door car with an undisclosed amount of cash, Austin and Bastrop police said.

In Austin, police made a note of the suspect’s “beer belly,” publicizing surveillance footage of a man later identified as Brock in an attempt to generate tips from the public. It appears to have worked. An anonymous tipster provided police with Brock’s name and photograph, the affidavit said.

When the surveillance footage was shown to one of Brock’s neighbors, the neighbor said the picture was of Brock, the affidavit said.

In the Austin robbery, Brock slid a hand-written note to the clerk indicating no one would be hurt if he was given money, the affidavit said. He then gestured to his waistband as if he had a weapon, the affidavit said.

He demanded large bills, and the clerk attempted to stall him, the affidavit said. He then told the clerk to hurry and began reaching toward his waistband, the affidavit said.

Once he was provided an unknown amount of money, he grabbed the note and left the store, the affidavit said.
