The Bastrop Advertiser on Friday opened the doors to its new office at 1106 College St., Ste. C.

Wednesday was the last day the paper will be open at its old location at 908 Water St. Offices were closed Thursday for moving day.

The Advertiser staff is excited about moving to the new office, which will be open from 8 a.m.-5 p.m. Monday-Friday and has easy access from Texas 71.

“Our new location is bigger by more than 600 square feet, which means more office space, meeting space and, in general, a more customer-friendly feel,” said Miles Smith, editor of The Bastrop Advertiser and its sister publication, The Smithville Times. “The conference room and private office spaces for reporters will really facilitate interviews and meetings with our readers.”

The move is just one of three changes to the paper in recent months. Smith joined the Advertiser and Times staff as editor in May. The Advertiser and Times also welcomed reporter Suzanne Hodgson in June.

The paper’s staff also includes reporter Sarah Acosta, reporter Wes Gardner, sports editor Chris Dukes and longtime editorial assistant/office manager Ginny Pickering.
