When a motorist flagged him down and said his wife was in labor, a state trooper called for an ambulance and tried to comfort the mom-to-be Friday afternoon.

But the baby girl had other plans. And it didn’t matter that mom and dad were on Barrett Parkway at I-575.

"Just as the ambulance arrived on scene, the baby was born," the Georgia Department of Public Safety posted on its Facebook page.

Trooper Royce Zah followed the ambulance to WellStar Kennestone Hospital to check on the family and newborn.

“Mother and baby are doing great, and the family is grateful for Zah’s efforts,” the state patrol posted.

The mother’s name was not released.
