The Hall County Sheriff’s Office on Friday released the name of the man found dead in Lake Lanier earlier in the week.
Michael Gilmer, 61, of Flowery Branch was discovered in the lake Wednesday afternoon, authorities said. The cause of death is still pending autopsy results.
A passerby spotted his badly decomposed body just after 1 p.m. near Sunrise Cove Marina off Flat Creek Road, the sheriff’s office said. His body was taken to the DeKalb County Medical Examiner’s office.
