Austell officials will hold a Transportation Town Hall meeting at 7 p.m. Aug. 21 in the Courtroom, City of Austell Threadmill Complex, 5000 Austell-Powder Springs Road, Suite 101, Austell.
Mayor Pro Tem Ollie B. Clemons Jr. said Cobb Commission Chairman Mike Boyce and District 4 Commissioner Lisa Cupid will be attending the meeting to gather comments from the community on ways to improve transit availability.
In other business, the Austell City Council decided 6-0 Aug. 6 to approve the following expenditures:
- $500,000 to $600,000 to make two pump stations at John Street and Scott Drive to be gravity flow so that they will not pump anymore with the work to be completed by Keck and Wood, Inc.
- $55,200 to $60,720 to conduct an inventory of 600 to 660 stormwater infrastructure structures by Rindt-McDuff.
Also, the Council granted another two-year lease - from August 2018 to August 2020 - to Global Sports for Legion Field at 5514 Austell-Powder Springs Road.
While the city does not charge Global Sports, the organization does pay the light bill.
