The Austell City Council voted 6-0 Monday to demolish the first three of around 25 houses that were damaged by the 2009 flood.
Tax liens will be placed on these properties on Pontiac Circle and Sanders Drive for repayment of the demolition cost to the city.
“We’ll wait a month and tear down four or five more,” Mayor Joe Jerkins said.
Another property owner on Pontiac Circle plans to renovate his property, while another on Pontiac Circle was given 60 days by the council to handle the demolition on her own.
