Big crowds are expected downtown for Saturday night's "Monster Jam 2011″ truck races at the Georgia Dome, and a major repaving project could cause a monster jam of a different type for those trying to get to and from the Dome on I-75.

There won't be any problems weather-wise, however, as sunny skies and mild temperatures prevail Saturday and Sunday.

The state Department of Transportation will be shutting down two lanes of I-75 in both directions between Mount Paran Road and Cumberland Boulevard, beginning at 8 p.m. Friday and continuing through 5 a.m. Monday.

Also closed during those hours will be the right lane of I-75 southbound between West Paces Ferry and Moores Mill roads, along with the southbound ramps to and from Moores Mill, and the right lane of I-75 northbound between Northside Drive and Howell Mill Road, along with the northbound ramps to and from Howell Mill.

Other road construction projects will shut down the two right lanes of Ga. 400 northbound between I-285 and Abernathy Road and the two left lanes of I-85 north and southbound between Chamblee Tucker and Northcrest roads. Those closures are also set to run from Friday evening through early Monday.

Other downtown events include Thrashers games at 7:30 p.m. Friday and 5 p.m. Sunday at Philips Arena and a Hawks game at 7 p.m. Saturday at the arena.

Channel 2 Action News meteorologist Karen Minton said there will be "sunshine galore" this weekend, with afternoon temperatures gradually warming toward a high in the low 60s on Sunday after topping out in the mid-50s on Saturday.

Overnight lows will still be on the chilly side, dipping into the mid- to upper 20s.
