A few isolated thunderstorms could pop up daily through early next week, but probably not enough to disrupt the numerous road construction projects slated for this weekend.

Channel 2 Action News meteorologist David Chandley put the chance of thunderstorms at 20 percent on Friday and Sunday and 10 percent on Saturday, Monday and Tuesday.

Weekend temperatures will be hot, topping out around 93 on Saturday and 91 on Sunday, Chandley predicted.

The state Department of Transportation warned that there will be rolling closures on a three-mile stretch of I-75 northbound and southbound in Cobb County from just south of GA. 5 to just north of Barrett Parkway all weekend.

There will also be work on the exit ramps to Barrett Parkway and Ga. 5, beginning at 9 p.m. Friday and continuing through 5 a.m. Monday.

In DeKalb County, the ramp from Ashford Dunwoody Road to I-285 westbound will be closed from 9 p.m. Sunday through 5 a.m. Monday. There will be rolling closures from 7 a.m. to noon  Sunday on I-285 westbound from Peachtree Industrial Boulevard to Ashford Dunwoody Road and eastbound at Ga. 4o0.

Construction is also planned on Ga. 400 in both directions around the exits to Peachtree and Lenox roads.

On the southwest quadrant of the Perimeter, the two right lanes of I-285 southbound will be closed from Washington Road to Old National Highway.

Weekend events include Friday night concerts by Lady Antebellum at the Gwinnett Arena and Kristin Chenowith at the Cobb Energy Performing Arts Centre and a Saturday night show by Norah Jones at the Fox Theatre.
