Expected snow flurries and chilly temperatures shouldn’t delay highway improvement plans this weekend in metro Atlanta.
Construction on the I-75 Express Lanes projects and sign structures will lead to lane closures, and therefore, traffic delays.
Here’s what you need to remember to avoid the work zone backups:
The Express Lanes project will require one northbound and one southbound lane closure on I-575 between Bells Ferry Road and SR 92 Alabama Road from 9 p.m. Friday to 5 a.m. Saturday.
One southbound lane on I-75 will close between SR 120 Loop/South Marietta Parkway and SR 280/Delk Road from 9 p.m. Friday to 5 a.m. Saturday.
One lane will close on I-75 northbound and southbound at the I-285 interchange from 9 p.m. Friday to 5 a.m. Saturday.
One lane on Big Shanty Road will close under I-75 from 9:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday.
And one southbound lane on the I-75 ramp to SR 280/Delk Road will close from 9:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday.
Work on the South Metro Express Lanes will lead to one northbound lane and shoulder closure on I-675 at SR 138/ Stockbridge Road from 7 p.m. Friday to 5 a.m. Monday.
And sign structure work will also impact weekend commutes.
One northbound lane and one southbound lane will close between SR 120 Loop/South Marietta Parkway and SR 120 Loop/North Marietta Parkway from 6 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday. Two westbound lanes and one eastbound lane on I-285 will close at Bouldercrest Road from 9 p.m. Saturday to 5 a.m. Monday.
Sign work on I-285 will lead two westbound lanes to close between SR 139/Riverdale Road and the I-85 interchange from noon Saturday to 5 a.m. Monday and one westbound lane closure at SR 54/Jonesboro Road from 9 a.m. to noon Saturday.
One eastbound lane and the shoulder of I-20 will close between SR 70/Fulton Industrial Boulevard and the I-285 interchange from 9 p.m. Friday to 7 p.m. Sunday.
Two eastbound lanes on I-20 will close between SR 139/Martin Luther King Jr. Drive and Joseph E. Lowery Boulevard from 10 p.m. Friday to 7 p.m. Sunday.
One lane on SR 237/Piedmont Road will close at Habersham Road from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m., Saturday and Sunday.
And the I-20 westbound ramp to Capitol Avenue will be closed for the 5th Annual Hot Chocolate Atlanta 15K/5K from 7 a.m. to 11 a.m. Sunday.
