The mercury dipped into the 20s across much of metro Atlanta early Monday, but sunny skies will usher in afternoon readings well into the 60s.

Early morning lows ranged from 26 degrees in Peachtree City and Cartersville, 27 in Alpharetta and 29 in Dunwoody to 36 at Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport.

Channel 2 Action News meteorologist Karen Minton said those chilly morning temperatures will be replaced by afternoon readings in the mid-60s under sunny skies.

There’s an 80 percent chance of rain on Tuesday, Minton said, along with morning lows in the upper 40s and afternoon highs in the upper 50s.

Sunny skies are forecast for Wednesday through Friday, with highs in the low 60s and lows in the low 40s.
