A wind advisory has been issued for metro Atlanta Monday, and those winds, expected to be around 20 mph with gusts to 35 mph, could blow in a round of severe weather overnight.

Channel 2 Action News meteorologist Karen Minton said there's a threat of severe storms beginning late Monday evening and continuing into Tuesday morning. She said that while the "best scenario" is for strong straight-line winds, isolated tornadoes aren't out of the question.

Minton said the chance of storms is 100 percent overnight. The rain should end by around 8 a.m. on Tuesday.

The wind advisory is in effect from noon until 8 p.m. for the northern half of the state. The National Weather Service said there's also a high danger of brush and woods fires during that time, due to the brisk winds and low humidity.

Afternoon temperatures will be in the low 80s on Monday, Minton said, but will cool down to the upper 50s on Tuesday before rebounding back to around 70 degrees on Tuesday.

Atlanta's dry, warm weekend allowed the city's pollen count to soar, reaching 3,301 particles of pollen per cubic meter of air early Monday.
