The cold front that brought rain to metro Atlanta Thursday afternoon and overnight will send temperatures plummeting into the mid-30s by the end of the weekend.

The bulk of the overnight rain had moved well southeast of Atlanta by daybreak Friday, with only a few scattered, light showers still moving toward the city from Alabama.

Rainfall totals across the area ranged from .26 inch at Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport to .60 inch in Dallas. On the northside, Marietta reported .40 inch, Alpharetta .41 inch.

Channel 2 Action News meteorologist Karen Minton said there is a 30 percent chance of lingering morning showers, followed by clearing skies Friday afternoon, when highs will be in the upper 50s.

Saturday and Sunday will be sunny, with highs around 60 degrees on Saturday and in the mid-50s on Sunday. Lows will be in the upper 30s early Saturday and mid-30s early Sunday, Minton said.

Windy conditions are also on tap for the weekend, with gusts to 25 mph on Saturday and 15 mph on Sunday.
