A cold front will bring rain to the metro Atlanta area by week's end.

Thursday, there is a 20 percent chance of rain, with highs in the low 70s, well over the average of 62 for this time of year, Channel 2 Action News chief meteorologist Glenn Burns said.

The cold front will move in overnight. However, the atmosphere is stable, so no severe weather is expected, unlike last week, Burns said.

There is a 70 percent chance of rain Friday, with highs in the mid-60s.

"Saturday looks like a great day," Burns said. Expect sunny skies and highs in the mid-60s.

Rain could return Sunday, and the high is forecast to reach 60.

Lows are expected to be in the mid-40s over the weekend.
