Tropical Storm Karen weakened to a tropical depression late Saturday, then dissipated late Sunday morning off the Louisiana coast, negating the impact the storm was expected to have on the metro Atlanta area.

As Sunday progressed, clouds increased and a cold front was expected to move through, but metro Atlanta should stay relatively dry until late afternoon, according to Channel 2 Action News meteorologist Brad Nitz.

Showers are expected late Sunday evening and into Monday morning, with the chance of rain at 80 percent, he said.

Sunday will see high temperatures in the low 80s and lows in the mid 60s. Heading into next week, temperatures will start to cool down slightly with highs in the mid 70s and lows in the mid 50s.
