Only a slight chance of rain is forecast for Tuesday, but don’t worry, rain lovers, the risk of rain goes up Wednesday into the weekend.

Channel 2 Meteorologist Karen Minton put the chance of rain at 20 percent Tuesday, increasing to 40 percent Wednesday and Thursday.

The week will end with a 50 percent chance of rain Friday and Saturday, Minton said.

Temperatures will top out around 87 degrees Tuesday, but could climb into the low 90s for the first time this month on Wednesday, Minton predicted.

Highs will be in the upper 80s Thursday through Saturday.

Last July, Atlanta’s high was in the 90s or above on all but three days.

The city’s official rain gauge at Hartsfield-International Airport has recorded rain every day this month except for July 1.

Atlanta’s July rainfall total so far of 4.36 inches is 1.67 inches above normal. The city’s rainfall total for the year of 41.68 inches is 14.33 inches above normal.
