Freezing overnight temperatures, rain and a wind chill in the upper teens could drive even the most determined night owl indoors.
Well, ready the heavy blankets and umbrellas because freezing and below freezing temperatures in the forecast for Tuesday night and early Wednesday morning will likely give way to rain showers by end of day Friday, according to Channel 2 Action News.
Channel 2 meteorologist Brad Nitz said temperatures will drop fairly quickly after sunset before warming later in the week.
“In Atlanta we’ll drop into the upper 30s by 9 p.m., down to freezing by 4 a.m., then at or below freezing for about six hours as we bottom out in the upper 20s,” he said.
Weather in the northern suburbs will linger a few degrees colder and down below freezing a little longer than in metro Atlanta, Nitz added.
And the chill won’t quit Wednesday morning, forecasts showed.
The wind chill will continue to hover in the upper teens to low 20s, with the breeze between five and 10 miles per hour, Nitz said.
Temperatures are expected to warm later in the week.
Wednesday’s low of 28 degrees is expected to become 42 degrees by Friday. And highs are expected to top 50 degrees Thursday and Friday, Nitz said.
Though, the higher temperatures will also come with partly cloudy conditions Thursday and a 70 percent chance of rain Friday, according to Channel 2.
