No need to worry. That bright yellow object in the eastern sky is just the sun.

After weathering rain and drizzle on 11 of the past 12 days, metro Atlantans finally awakened to bright sunshine Tuesday, and forecasters are promising at least a few dry days before the next chance of rain.

Channel 2 meteorologist Brian Monahan said skies will be mostly sunny through Thursday, followed by a 20 percent chance of rain on Friday and Saturday.

Temperatures will be a few degrees above normal, climbing into the low 80s Wednesday through Friday, with morning lows in the low 60s.

The normal high for the first week of October is 76, and the normal low is 57.

Atlanta’s official rain gauge at Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport has recorded 3.4 inches of rain since the early fall rainy spell began on Sept. 24, boosting the city’s rainfall total for the year to 46.24 inches, a surplus of 7.25 inches.
