Metro Atlanta has had six consecutive days of measurable rainfall as of Tuesday, and the current forecast suggests it might reach seven, eight or even nine days.

Hold on, though, drier weather is approaching, Channel 2 Action News chief meteorologist Glenn Burns said.

A front “moves in (Wednesday) with more showers,” Burns said. “Looks like low pressure develops in the wake of the front and keeps rain in the forecast through Friday morning.”

But, “after that,” he said, “there will be “some nice drying into the weekend.”

The chance of precipitation is now pegged at 60 percent for both Wednesday and Thursday, falling to 40 percent on Friday.

Come Saturday and Sunday, however, the moisture is expected to move out and temperatures look to be autumn perfect with a high of about 73 degrees each day, Burns said.

It will be a “very comfortable weekend,” Burns said.

The temperature should top out at around 80 Wednesday, then fall to highs in the upper 60s Thursday and Friday. Lows are expected to drop to the 50s by the weekend.
