Need more proof that the world has turned topsy-turvy, weather-wise? Consider this: As the Deep South struggles through its second sub-freezing snow and ice storm in two weeks, the expected high Tuesday in Sochi, Russia, site of the “Winter” Olympics, is nearly 60 degrees.

“No jacket required,” Atlanta public relations executive Nicholas Wolaver emailed from Sochi, where he’s attending his ninth Olympics. Then, perhaps sensing our parka-ed pain here, he wrote he was “definitely” planning on taking a jacket along when he attended tonight’s first-ever women’s ski jumping event.

On this count, at least, Russia wins the Cold War.
