The cty of Atlanta’s Department of Watershed Management will move forward with eight projects underway as part of its stormwater repair and rehabilitation program.
The department, which has identified 86 potential projects, chose the first eight based on factors such as flooding concerns and safety issues. Construction, including new pipe installation and replacement, has started on some of the projects:
- Mathieson Drive NW between Alberta Drive NE and Mathieson Place NE
- Whitehall Street SW between Metropolitan Parkway and McDaniel Street SW
- Alvarado Terrace between South Gordon Street SW and Waters Drive SW
- Fox Street SW between Paines Avenue SW and English Avenue SW
- Wells Street at Metropolitan Parkway
- Erin Avenue SW between Manor Place SW and Manford Road SW
- Ralph McGill Boulevard NE between Boulevard NE and Glen Iris Drive NE
The department said this year up to 10 percent ($12.5 million) of revenue from the Municipal Option Sales Tax will fund stormwater projects that will improve water quality and flood management, among other benefits.
