Atlanta should consider selling landfill gas, councilwoman says
By Eric Stirgus
Nov 17, 2009Atlanta City Councilwoman Natalyn Mosby Archibong wants the city to consider selling methane gas from its four closed landfills to a natural gas provider.
Archibong introduced legislation late Monday requesting the city look into the idea. The legislation was sent to the council's utilities committee.
"As we more into developing a more environmentally-sustainable city, we must explore every avenue of recycling and reuse," Archibong said in a statement.
Council President Lisa Borders pushed the idea during her unsuccessful bid for mayor.
