Atlanta Public Schools has hired away a Cobb County assistant superintendent to work in a newly created human resources position focused on recruiting and retaining talent.

Rick Beaulieu will be APS’ executive director of the centers of expertise, one of three executive directors answering to the chief human resources officer, said school district spokesman Stephen Alford.

Beaulieu will help the school system appeal to prospective employees as it recovers from recent controversies, Alford said, including a cheating scandal that resulted in criminal charges against 35 former educators.
