Atlanta police Wednesday announced the overnight arrests of two men in connection with a pair of deadly high-profile shootings that happened within hours of one another in early October.

In the first shooting, which happened around 4 p.m. on Oct. 5, 23-year-old Graham Sisk was killed while sitting in his car at the busy intersection of Moreland and Ponce de Leon avenues.

Later that Friday night, Morie Brooks, 24, died in an unrelated shooting outside a Midtown nightclub.

Atlanta police Homicide Lt. Paul Guerrucci told the AJC that Shaheeb Kaba Huff, 30, was arrested by police and U.S. Marshals Tuesday night and charged with murdering Sisk.

“Based on our investigation so far, all indications are that the individuals that were involved in the shooting, they knew each other in one way or another and they were involved in some type of illegal activity when the shooting occurred,” Guerrucci said. He would not elaborate further on the alleged illegal activity.

Guerrucci also announced the arrest Wednesday morning of Orlando Hawkins, 21, for the shooting death of Brooks outside the QUAD nightclub in the 600 block of Spring Street.

An argument between two groups inside the club escalated into the gunfire that killed Brooks, according to police.
