Atlanta's Fire Rescue Department and Police Department will host a groundbreaking ceremony on Tuesday for Atlanta Fire Rescue Department Station 28 and the Atlanta Police Department Zone 2 Mini Precinct. The new, joint station is located at 1925 Hollywood Rd. in West Atlanta, and will house Engine 28. City leaders said it would enhance public safety by allowing police officers to meet with citizens, write reports, and stay in the community longer so they do not have to return to the main precinct. Atlanta Mayor Kasim Reed said the facility "will serve as a safe haven for this community for years to come."
