Police Chief George Turner was elected as one of the Eastern Region Representatives of the Major Cities Chiefs Association on Oct. 24. Turner’s two year term will begin January 2015 and conclude December 2016.
He will work along-side Chief Jane Castor from Tampa, Florida, as they co-serve as Eastern Region Representatives.
Within the Major Cities Chiefs Association executives share ideas and strategies for addressing urban community challenges. The association also aims to influence national public policy on law enforcement matters and sponsor research related to the law enforcement field.
Turner was appointed by Atlanta’s Mayor Kasim Reed and is currently in his fifth year as the City of Atlanta Chief of Police.
