In anticipation of cold temperatures, Atlanta is opening its warming center Tuesday evening.

The Old Adamsville Recreation Center, located at 3404 Delmar Lane, will open at 8 p.m., the city announced. Evening temperatures for New Year’s Eve are expected to be in the 40s starting at 7 p.m., according to Channel 2 Action News meteorologist Eboni Deon.

The temperature in Atlanta was at 48 degrees at 12:30 p.m. It is expected to rise to 53, according to Channel 2.

Transportation to the warming center will be provided at Gateway Center, located at 275 Pryor Street.

The warming center will close New Year’s Day, which is expected to have temperatures in the low- to mid-30s.
