The Atlanta Municipal Court announced the formation of the Failure-to-Appear Walk-In calendar. The Municipal Court judges unanimously elected to implement this initiative, which began Monday, where defendants with active warrants or those who have missed their court dates will have an opportunity to have their cases placed on a calendar for visiting the court to resolve their pending matters.
The dockets for FTA Walk-In court will be scheduled 9 a.m. and 1 p.m. Monday through Friday. Defendants will be added to each docket up to one hour before the court’s scheduled start time. Thus, 8 a.m. is the cut off time for the 9 a.m. docket, and noon is the cut off time for the 1 p.m. docket.
“It is the goal of our court to provide excellent customer service in the effective and efficient administration of justice,” said Christopher Ward, chief judge of the Municipal Court of Atlanta. “It is our duty to provide the citizens of our great city the opportunity to have their matters resolved in a convenient and timely manner.” The FTA Walk-In calendar is one of many collaborative efforts between Judge Ward and Ryan Shepard, newly appointed Interim Court Administrator.
