Atlanta's Board of Ethics is searching for a new ethics officer as Ginny Looney prepares to leave at the end of the month and take job with the Georgia Supreme Court. A nine-member search committee has been established, chaired by John Lewis, a top lawyer at Coca-Cola Co. who deals with compliance and anti-bribery issues. The ethics board is a city agency with purview over conflicts of interest, gifts, and financial disclosure.

Looney was Atlanta's inaugural ethics officer in 2003. In announcing her resignation, she said, "After eight years, I feel that I have done what I intended to do — set up a functioning, effective office for enforcing ethical standards."
