Nearly $800,000 in federal funding will go toward a pair of affordable housing projects under a resolution recently passed by a Atlanta City Council committee and sent to the full Council.
Summech Community Development Corp. Inc. would receive $577,645 to build two or three new single-family homes and rehabilitate an existing one on Doane and Cooper streets in Mechanicsville, according to the resolution of the Community Development & Human Resources Committee.
The Atlanta Neighborhood Development Partnership would get $180,000 to rehab two or three existing homes in southwest Atlanta.
Summech and ANDP also would receive $25,000 and $15,000, respectively, for operational expenses.
The homes are to be sold to households with less than 80 percent of the adjusted median income for metro Atlanta – $54,000 for a family of four. Sales prices cannot exceed $228,000 for new construction and $223,000 for existing homes under U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development limits for Fulton County.
Home buyers also will be eligible for down payment assistance from the city
