Victim’s Impact Statement

“When I left the court room I was numb, it wasn’t a celebration for me.

I had to really deal with what happened and hear all the tragic stories.

I had to hear his nonchalant apology. I had to hear his defense attorneys portray him to be this scared little boy and I almost thought they were going to give him an award for admitting his guilt.

It was actually disgusting and I was appalled. It will never be over for me.”

A sexual assault victim who received a ‘unique’ apology from her attacker had her own response.

Terry Young, 20, was sentenced to life in prison after a seven-day crime spree that included rape, kidnapping, home invasion, and a slew of other charges. After confessing to his crimes, he told his victims, "Sorry y'all, my bad."

One of his victims, a school teacher who managed to escape Young after he sexually assaulted and pistol whipped her, would not accept his apology, according to Channel 2 Action News.

The victim told the court how she felt, calling his apology “insincere” and “appalling,” the station said.
