The suspect sought in the fatal shooting of a cab driver in East Point has been captured, police say.

Detectives with the East Point police department identified 19-year-old Danny Kirtz as a person of interest in the Aug. 7 shooting of Day and Night taxi driver Jacke Rainey.

Kirtz is charged with murder, kidnapping, armed robbery and possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime, East Point police said in a press release.

Taxi dispatchers say Rainey, the father of three children, called to report being shot at 4 a.m., but his radio immediately went silent.

Police searched for the cab for hours before a woman called to report finding Rainey in his cab at the entrance to Oak Knoll Elementary School, police said.

Rainey had been shot multiple times, probably from inside the cab.
