Marietta police have made an arrest in an armed robbery and attempted burglary that happened Monday morning.

The first incident happened about 4:30 a.m. Monday, when a man attempted to burglarize the Canton Road Package Store in the 1700 block of Canton Road in Cobb County.

About five hours later, a suspect believed to be the same man entered a Chevron on Powers Ferry Road in Marietta, pulled out a handgun and demanded cash, Marietta police spokesman David Baldwin said.

Baldwin said detectives “got a break in the case when they were able to positively identify the suspect, Kon Sarin, through forensic evidence gathered at the scene of the Powers Ferry Road robbery.”

Marietta and Cobb police detectives worked to track the suspect to an apartment complex off Barnes Mill Road, where he was arrested, Baldwin said.

Sarin is being held without bond at the Cobb County Adult Detention Center, charged with armed robbery and possession of a firearm in the commission of a crime. Additional charges are pending, Baldwin said.
