Applications due for Tyrone citizens police academy

Tyrone’s Citizens Police Academy is accepting applications through Monday for its fall session.

The eight-week course will be held 6-8:30 p.m. on Tuesdays starting Aug. 27 at the Tyrone Police Department, 945 Senoia Road. Topics will include criminal investigations, crime scene processing, narcotics enforcement, the K9 program, arrest procedures, firearms (force simulator), domestic violence, situational awareness and community initiatives. Participants can also ride along with an officer to experience daily police work. Attendance is free but limited to Tyrone residents and/or business owners over age 18; all applicants are subject to a background check and cannot have been convicted of a felony.

Applications can be downloaded at www.tyronepd.org/cpa/html and must be received no later than July 1.
